Power Ball

I would like to know the mechanics of how this amazing and awesome phenomenon occurred in Lachine, Quebec, Canada, the other night as a result of a wind storm disabling the electrical distribution system in this suburb of Montreal.

  1. I don't know how it happens either, but I saw one once, during an ice storm. The transformer near my home blew but not before it sent a fireball of electricity towards my house. I thought we'd all be fricasseed, but when it hit the house, it simply went out. The transformer sounded like a cannon fired at short range. This was a night/week I don't ever want to experience again.
