Meso of Oz

This amazing image comes to us newly from Carrum Downs, Australia. What you are looking at is a mesocyclone extending from the bottom of a thundestorm. Rarely are such structures quite so prominent and distinct (or so extending) but rather are more typically embedded within the parent storm's clouds.
