M5.1 La Habra Quake Red Box

Tis not every day one sees a big red box on the quake map for Southern California... this one being for tonight's M5.1 La Habra Earthquake which harmed nobody but inflicted rather significant amounts of minor damage with some zones of moderate damage in the epicentral region mostly in Orange County.

Holy Burning Twirling Tumbleweeds!

I saw an initial early cut of this footage sans music some days ago when this footage first hit the internet. That seems to be gone subsequently and replaced with mostly this version in various formulations of length with this now-associated lame-assed music that is totally inappropriate for it. May a pox be upon its creator! This incident occurred recently in Colorado when a controlled burn got out of control due to an unexpected fire whirl.

Yosemite HD II

Just about two years ago I posted in this space one of my first (on this blog) timelapse nature videos set to awesome music. It was titled Yosemeite HD (high def). Tonight I discovered its sequel.

A 200+ mile backpacking experience through Yosemite National Park captured by Colin Delehanty and Sheldon Neill. This project was filmed over the course of 10 months. We spent a combined 45 days in the park capturing the images in this video.

Deer GoPro Heroes

My friend Janet shared this with me via email and I was very touched by it and believe you will be touched, too. It features a double deer rescue on ice via a couple of cool hovercraft such as I have never before seen operate on ice. This takes place on Albert Lea Lake in Minnesota, dontcha know!
