Tonight I worked alone late until the 9 o'clock hour at Atascadero High School in my classroom on the second floor of the "B" Building. It was formerly known as the Virginia Black Union High School Building (built in 1921) until the middle 20th century. As I previously stated HERE this building possesses a subtly odd vibe after hours when nobody is around.... if I didn't know better I'd say the place "shines." I got that feeling again tonight when working there after the clerical staff had left for the night and I was there alone. I was utterly unafraid and yet picked up a vibe that the place wasn't entirely vacant of any consciousness apart from my own; something there was aware of me and I could feel it. NOTE: this structure is slated for demolition by decade's end.

Picture of the Day - The Shining of the "B" Building
My 10th grade world history classes at Atascadero High School started this academic year being held in the "H" wing. However, that building is being thoroughly remodeled and upgraded soon. Therefore, in February we were moved along with the other classes being held in that structure to other rooms in other buildings scattered throughout the campus. My classes were relocated to a room on the second floor of the old Virginia Black Union High School Building, now called the "B" building. I was last in a classroom here in the spring of 1989, the year I graduated from this school. The place was built back in the early 1920s. I often come to my classroom before dawn to get work done or I come on Saturday to work on my lesson plans or edTPA. In either case, I am very much alone in the building and have gotten to know it better. When I am there I do not feel alone. The place has a heavy feel and it makes mysterious noises. I realize it is nearly a century old and old buildings creek. I get that. There is more than that going on, however. I am sensitive to these things and have been in many creepy-looking old buildings and felt nothing. That is not the case with this building. I do not believe in ghosts, but there is something about this place. It "shines", whatever that means. I shot this image at midday today with my phone as I left for home. Note: this structure shall be demolished in the next few years.

No Whaley House Wailing
Tonight as part of my ongoing visit to San Diego to visit my friend Jannine in the hospital as she recovers from a serious surgery. I had the privilege of being taken to the infamous Whaley House in Old Town San Diego by my friend Jon who is a mutual friend. Despite the reputation of the place I experienced nothing and none of my images later showed anything creepy as allegedly has often been the case in times past.
Note: below are some other posts relating to this visit to San Diego.

Santa Margarita Ranch Photo Tour I
Yesterday afternoon right after my final Cuesta College Spring 2014 semester final I drove directly to my security job working a wedding at Santa Margarita Ranch from 3 p.m. until 11:30 p.m. Needless to say, it was a productive but exhausting day. I had a spare half hour before work and elected to get on-site and be in position to work before something could go wrong like car trouble or other such. I decided to spend that time taking these images after I had checked in with ranch staff and was debriefed on the day's duties. Below is what I captured of the Main House structure and grounds as well as of the Big Barn In Back where the wedding dinners are served. The grassy grounds adjacent to the Main House which are not fully pictured here are where the ceremony was held as they usually are.
*Note: this locality (both Main House and Big Barn In Back are both reputed to be haunted). During the day these two structures are innocuous-looking enough but in the middle of the night (I have spent four overnight periods with them in the past) they have a very different vibe that I have not experienced anywhere else on Earth at night.

Adelaida Cemetery Cool Headstone Compendium
This morning before work early this evening I headed back out to the Adelaida Cemetery and shared it with my new friend Chelsia. Since I had already done a photo-study of the cemetery and its mood this time I elected to focus more on the headstones solely and celebrate their individuality and the stories they tell us about the people and about the period in which the headstones were designed and shaped. Most of the older marble and a hand-full of older granite markers I included here but the newer granite markers did nothing for me with a few exceptions and so I only shared the ones which did. I found today's gloominess helpful in giving these images a vaguely creepy monotone color scheme.
Check out my recent Haunting Return To Adelaida Cemetery.

| I love this pink and gray granite. |
