Picture of the Day - Easter Cajun Omelot

This morning en route walking to the downtown park in Paso Robles, I revisited a spot at which I enjoyed a shrimp cocktail & 3-mimosa for lunch yesterday. Since then I plotted this morning's breakfast strategy and indulged in a pre-Easter Sunday service breakfast at Spring Seafood Bar & Grill. Their Cajun Omelot is cheap at $14 given what it is. I took my orange juice straight today. Photo by Kim Patrick Noyes (all rights reserved).

Scripture of the Day - David (Ps. 37:35-36)

It never ceases to amaze me how God can talk to those who are His own through His Word in contexts which can be so seemingly mundane and prosaic. Tonight, as I created my latest culinary masterpiece HERE, I crushed some bay leaves and dropped them into my nascent stew and immediately the following passage of scripture (Psalms 37:35-36) rang in my head loud and clear:
"I have seen the wicked in great power, and spreading himself like a green bay tree. Yet he passed away, and, lo, he was not: yea, I sought him, but he could not be found."

Tonight I may have created my best stew ever.... I can't tell you the super-secret ingredients or else I'd have to kill you.

Graphic of the Day - Food-Lover's Guide To Volcanoes

The American Geophysical Union held its annual autumn conference in San Francisco last week. Since the early 1990s I have enjoyed the earthquake and other type earth science-related disaster presentations and resulting articles in the San Francisco Chronicle as written by legendary science reporter David Perlman. He is now slowing down output given he is 97 but still works for the newspaper. I have not seen any articles by him (or anybody else) about anything presented at this year's conference. Either the corporate nature of modern newspapers has taken the Chron's focus off covering an important science conference in their own City or this year's conference offered fewer things worth placing in the San Francisco Chronicle. However, the most interesting thing coming out of this year's conference I could find was on Twitter which is this graphic by Miles Traer (all rights reserved).

My Very First Full of Life Flatbread Pizza

Earlier this evening I had the honor and privilege of visiting and partaking in the culinary decadence that is Full of Life Flatbread Pizza in Los Alamos, CA. The occasion was my boss and I along with a mutual female friend joining us on a short business trip to nearby Buellton, CA, and on the way back getting paid for our assistance by way of gourmet food and nice local wines at this fabulous place. The three of us shared the Central Coast Sausage and Shaman Bread with goat cheese pizzas. Both of these pizzas were awesometacular! I enjoyed this with a glass of  Pinot Noir from Presqu'ile in the Santa Maria Valley. Usually I'm not a big fan of wines from that region but this one was quite excellent. I also shared half a glass of Grenache from Sorellina in the Santa Ynez Valley. The service was friendly and the atmosphere was funky and hip and cool. Watching our pizzas being cooked in the pizza oven right there in the dining room completed the experience. However, be forewarned: getting a table is quite an ordeal as this place is always packed and is only open Friday and Saturday evenings. Most of their business is by way of mail ordering of their pizzas with their two open evenings being a way to connect with the community and those out-of-town guests inclined to make the worthwhile pilgrimage.
