Picture of the Day - Wallace Creek

Looking northwest at Wallace Creek on the Carrizo Plain in Eastern San Luis Obispo County, CA. This creek runs left to right across the surface trace of the San Andreas Fault Zone. It once ran in a straight line but now has a 400 foot dogleg in it where the fault trends across it. This feature has been caused by numerous large earthquakes over many centuries.
