Satirization of Dehumanization
Tonight in my History of Modern America class (History 322) at Cal Poly we watched this clip of a bit longer segment of Charlie Chaplin's 1936 film "Modern Times." The context of this was our discussion of often dehumanizing working conditions that were common enough during the early 20th Century to make such a scene in the film be of relevance to enough people to make it worthwhile. This and other similar themes were discussed. What was shown of the film made me want to watch it in its entirety.
