The pyrocumulus clouds visible in this mobile webcam view from Crane Flat Helibase showing but one small section of the monstrous Rim Fire raging on the Stanislaus National Forest and Yosemite National Park are starting to generate some lenticular "scarf clouds" above them. This part of the fire is almost certainly a running crown fire through the tree tops and may soon have pyrocumulonimbus clouds. This image was captured at 12:01 p.m. |
