At 11:16 a.m. about an hour after first putting up pyrocumulus clouds
the Rim Fire burning on the Tuolumne National Forest and Yosemite
National Park is rally cranking them out and will for the rest of the
day it appears. In this image we see both the barber pole twist of this convection column (one of many on this fire) as well as pyrocumulous clouds atop that. Unfortunately, this webcam at Crane Flat Helibase is
focused in a bit too tightly so we can only see the bottom of the clouds
at the top of the smoke column near the top margin of this image. Today
this fire should reach Hetch Hetchy on the east and Pine Mountain Lake
on the west side. Tuolumne City is now being advised to evacuate. |
