Tale of Two Maps
Below are two useful and enlightening maps that help one to visualize the spacial relationship of the current wildfire disaster in Northern California's Lake County, this time called the Clayton Fire, to last year's wildfire disasters. Those big three wildfires (Rocky, Jerusalem, and Valley) in that relatively compact area leave this newest fire not terribly much room to maneuver before reaching various burn areas yet just enough room to nonetheless get big and cause problems. Unfortunately, it started right in the middle of an unburnt gap and burned right into Lower Lake wreaking havoc in that small town burning scores of homes and businesses.
