Visiting Sculpterra

This afternoon after church, I headed over to Sculpterra Winery (over on the east side) with my sister by another mother, Chris, to attend the performance of our mutual buddy, Nick Brittan, who was in the lineup to perform there today. He did not disappoint as he did his usual fine job, most notably performing a song he wrote about spiders taking over his house and he having to hunt then down. While I was here, I made a point of joining the very affordable wine club to share with Chris. Each of us will get one bottle per quarter of the year.

This is one of my two favorite sculptures and is situated out in front of the tasting room.

This is my other favorite sculpture here which I captured here and below from opposite angles.

This visit I did not make it out into the rest of the surrounding gardens to view the other sculptures so I might end up having more favorites.

The primary reason I came here today was to attend the performance of this guy, my friend and local musician and songwriter and singer, Nick Brittan.

Picture of the Day - Winter Sunset In Front Of PAC

As I left the Cal Poly campus today the amazing sunset I had already been watching as I walked through campus finally afforded me a view worthy of an image posted on this blog. While cluttered by human-made objects it was at least worthy of a picture being captured due to the artistic aspect of the Performing Arts Center and the spherical sculpture located in front of it. Picture of the Day - Halloween Rock Garden

This already cool rock garden in Atascadero was accentuated this week by Halloween flourishes.

Adelaida Cemetery Cool Headstone Compendium

This morning before work early this evening I headed back out to the Adelaida Cemetery and shared it with my new friend Chelsia. Since I had already done a photo-study of the cemetery and its mood this time I elected to focus more on the headstones solely and celebrate their individuality and the stories they tell us about the people and about the period in which the headstones were designed and shaped. Most of the older marble and a hand-full of older granite markers I included here but the newer granite markers did nothing for me with a few exceptions and so I only shared the ones which did. I found today's gloominess helpful in giving these images a vaguely creepy monotone color scheme.
Check out my recent Haunting Return To Adelaida Cemetery

I don't know if this is a homemade replacement or the original.

I could not readily see the upper part of this broken headstone.
This bring to my mind Moses breaking the tablets.

I love this pink and gray granite.

Dad was a trucker....
... and so was mom.
There were not many wood grave markers but these were the two coolest ones.

Looks to be a Civil War vet to me.

I love its simplicity and starkness.

A sarcophagus?
